The DFL Senate District 44 Legislative Action team is alerting you about the Minnesota Legislature’s consideration of two bills that would negatively impact access to safe and legal abortion. Women’s rights was one of the top 5 issues our community named at our Progressive Action Fair.
Please call or email your legislator about the following bills:
• HF812 / SF704: ATargeted Regulation of Abortion Providers (TRAP) bill that would impose unnecessary and burdensome restrictions that would shut down clinics across the state. This bill is almost identical to the one that the Supreme Court struck down in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt. Like similar laws in other states, this bill is designed to shut down abortion providers, which will endanger women’s health.
• HF809 / SF702: A bill that would eliminate abortion coverage for Medicaid-insured women. A person’s source of health insurance shouldn’t determine whether or not they can access an abortion. Their health and safety should come first. Politicians shouldn’t be able to deny a woman’s health coverage just because she’s poor.
Hello, my name is _____________ and I’m a constituent from [CITY or ZIP CODE]. As your constituent, I urge you to vote against any bills that would restrict access to reproductive health care in Minnesota. Attacking health care is NOT how I want my elected officials to spend their time.
